OVERVIEW
This document lists a few special instructions that need to be
kept in mind when setting up and running Virtual Office over a network.
INSTALLING
You install the normal Virtual Office Software. It must be set
up as an Office Copy (sometimes referred to as a Multi User Copy or Site License Copy).
 |
First install
the software on the server.
 |
Set it up as
a Site License.
|
 |
Add all of your
agents to the server.
|
|
 |
Next install
the software on a workstation.
 |
Set it up as
a Site License.
|
 |
In the SETUP
/ System Setup screen there is an option to direct the program to look in certain
directories for both the data and the pictures. Point these directories to the mapped
network drive.
 |
Note: Be
careful to point to the right place. This is a common mistake. It occurs pending on
how the network drive is mapped. Two different setups could be:
-
The server’s C: drive is mapped as drive V:. You would point to
V:\PCPCISW\DATA & V:\PCPICSW\VGA.
-
The server’s C:\PCPICSW directory is mapped as drive V:. You would
point to V:\DATA & V:\VGA.
|
|
|
 |
Once you point
to the network drive, all agents installed on the server (done in the steps above)
are now available to the workstation.
|
PRINTERS
When printing across a network, the shared printer name can not
have a space in it.
DATA ACCESS
Users will be locked out of the database when it is reindexing
or updating. This occurs when either a user selects reindex or the capture buffer
is updating the database. When a download occurs, it first writes the data to a temporary
file known as the capture buffer. After the download is complete and disconnects,
it then updates the database.
Hit your back button to return to the previous screen.
